Building Materials Arrive

Page 1

Delivery Truck-062204-909aAt 9:09 AM on June 22nd, six days after the slab was poured, we were surprised to see a large truck stop in front of the house. This was to be the first of many deliveries of building materials. We were surprised that the first delivery would be the doors!

French Doors-062204-910a We knew they wouldn't be needed for several days. We just thought our garage was filled to capacity. It was to become the resting place for our shop doors for the next several days. On the pallet with our doors were several windows going to another job. We thanked the driver and bid him good day, then we heard a loud crash. Somebody's windows didn't make it back on to the truck. There they were splattered all over the street. Something mal-functioned. We were thankful that if it had to happen, it was after our delivery. We helped him clean up the glass.

Pile of building materials-062204-1117aBefore noon we had a pile of materials on our new driveway extension. The blue box contained the window-size air conditioner unit, which was also stored in the garage. It's still there! But in all fairness, the framers did need to know its dimensions so they could frame the opening for it. Judging by the speed with which the materials were arriving, we knew that construction would begin in short order. And it did!

This is getting long enough for the load time for dial up connections. So we'll continue on the next page. To be continued on next page ...
