Egyptian Obelesque at Piazza Center
The piazza was filled with people. These are probably some that have been in Rome for days waiting for the election of a new pope. Joseph Ratzinger of Germany was elected the previous week, and he chose the name Pope Benedict XVI. Employees were readying the area for his first audience, which was to be the next day.
There are our marching orders!
Go join that mass of humanity that are struggling to get past the security and into Saint Peter's Basilica for a little more sight seeing. It is 11:27 AM and we haven't yet had a bathroom break.
We were not allowed to take pictures in the basilica. After that we went to the Vatican store. They did have one men's and one women's restroom. I didn't see a book of pictures of anything at the Vatican. They had some very expensive souvineers and some very cheap ones.
We didn't buy anything.
