Monument to Victor Emmanual
Vittorio Emanuele II became the first king of a unified Italy in 1861.
Prior to that, Italy was under the domination of Napolean Bonaparte and France, after he was defeated it was a collection on independent regions.
Piazza Venezia, the location of this magnificent monument has been converted to a street carrying a heavy traffic load. It is a stop off point for several of the public busses and therefore has become a meeting place for tourists.
This huge marble monument was completed in 1911.
