Sidewalk Risers
Yes, it's true. Venice does flood. The floods come after lots of rain with the high tides.
They say that Piazza San Marco is the first place to flood.
We saw stacks like this stationed in various places around town. It didn't take too long to figure out that they were there to be used as sidewalk risers.
Palazzo Bembo
Our Hotel occupies ½ of the third floor of the coral-pink building.
The ground floor is neither used nor is it counted. I suspect this is the custom through out the city except where shops occupy the ground floor of the building. If you look closely at the second and third floors, you can see that they sag slightly in the middle.
The camera lens didn't do that, age did.
5:45 PM ~ Open the gate, and let me out!
