San Michele Church
|
The San Michele Church
They say this is the most photographed view in Lucca. The upper section of the façade gives the impression of a propped-up film set — the windows look through onto thin air. The money ran out before that part of the church could be raised to the level of the façade. Every single column is different. Look up at the figure of the archangel at the top. The wings are hinged and may be retracted if the wind gets up!
Tuscan Scenery Inlaid on Wooden Boxes
These appear to be local arts on sale in the booths in the piazza.
