Alexandra tells us about the government building behind her. I believe it's the Ducal Palace, but not sure enough to put that label on it. The tree-lined Piazza Grande a.k.a Piazza Napoleone lies in the very center of the city. The monumental Ducal Palace (today headquarters of the Provincial administration and of the Prefecture of Police), created as the public palace in 1578 according to the plans of the Ammannati, was enlarged and modified in the 18th to 19th centuries. It is open to the public.
