This is the famous Arno River of Florence
Ponte Vecchio
This is the oldest bridge across the Arno, and it crosses the river at its widest point.
This bridge dates back to Roman times, and it has been rebuilt a number of times.
Notice that the older buildings, unified and no doubt stabilized, by a newer
structure above, overhang the riverand are braced
against the bridge structure.
People stroll by the shops that have perched on Ponte Vecchio almost since the beginning.
