Bacchus, Roman God Of Wine
Here are a few of the ways artists have depicted Bacchus throughout history.
The center sculpture of an old, fat Bacchus is at the museum at Pitti Palace.
The figure on the lower right was created by Michelangelo Buonarroti, early in his artistic career.
Michelangelo is considered one of the finest artists in history. He is famous for the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican, and for the statue of David, used here as the symbol for Florence, his birthplace and home.
