7:26 AM ~ The bus from the dock deposits us outside the old city at the community known as Pile. The name of this community is the basis for the name Pile Gate.

Fort Lovrijenac stands on the steep rock — approximately 118 feet high. Because of its position and massive walls, it was sometimes called the Dubrovnik Gibraltar.
