The Sambodrome: Carnival Will Happen Here!

Grandstand preparations are underway.

Carnival will be held February 9^th through the 12^th in 2002.
The dates change every year. It's 40 days before the end of Lent, a Catholic observance.

This is the place.

We've all seen it on TV and didn't realize that the main stage of the parade was a small two-block area lined with the VIP grandstands.

Many of the pictures on this site were taken from the moving tour bus.
