Hilo, Island of Hawaii

We were welcomed to Hilo with beautiful purple & white leis. A Hawaiian group entertained on the dock for quite a while. But it was time for them to go home before any of the Statendam passengers began to disembark.

Hilo is known as the city with the most rainfall in the United States.

It is on the "Big Island" which is still under construction by the active volcano Kilauea.

At left is some of the rainforest that grows just outside the city at Rainbow Falls. Below is a picture of the falls with its rainbow.
