Cagliari from the Harbor
D H Lawrence passed through Sardinia in 1921 remarking on its geographic location as a place lost between Europe and Africa and belonging nowhere. It is off the beaten track, but therein perhaps lies its appeal. The island’s beaches are some of the cleanest and least crowded in Italy. We're here to visit Cagliari, capital of Sardinia.
Looking Down the Hill
We can see that Ernst and Gertrude have climbed some distance from the pier where ms Rotterdam is docked. As you have learned from the pictures taken on this trip, this is no alley. This is a residential street. It probably has a shop catering to the neighborhood tucked in here and there. These buildings may go back to medieval times.
Interesting Building
This building may house government offices, or perhaps a museum.
Sardinia is a beautiful island located in the center of the Mediterranean Sea about 125 miles from the Italian mainland. It is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean - having more than 900 miles of spectacular jagged and rocky coastline, with many pristine beaches of very fine sparkling sand. The island is a popular destination for visitors who enjoy the sea, sun, and natural beauty. Cagliari is Sardinia's capital city.
