Hyatt Regency Xi'an Hotel

The Room
The Room
This view shows those wonderful down comforters the hotels use.
The room was very simple, with sliding panels for a window treatment. The inner set of panels is light-blocking opaque with a translucent pair of panels next to the windows. Opening those panels revealed a view of a roof top of a neighboring building and mud that had been left last time it had rained in Xi'an. Needless to say those panels didn't stay open long.

CNBC Plays At The Hyatt Regency In Xi'an
Somewhere along the tour someone volunteered that although we get world news via CNN, CNBC, and often the BBC in the hotels, they only get local TV in their homes. The government controls what they can watch on television. I'll bet they don't get a lot of the violent garbage that passes for entertainment in the US. It desensitizes our youth and teaches them to kill, and everybody seems to be okay with that.
